Vanta's frustration is 100% relatable and understandable. When the MC says he feels betrayed by Sayori for not telling him about her depression sooner, I was like, "Okay, that's not the right thing to say," and Vanta's groan perfectly matched up with that thought in my head.

I'm going to counter vanta a bit and say that this guy is a kid in highschool who was completely blindsided by her confession of depression. A kid who did not know how to respond and said things that came to mind out of both love and concern for Sayori. One can say that he should have seen the signs, but spotting the signs can be hard to pinpoint, especially when she's been in this mode for years and it's harder for one to emphasize with her when he's not also been afflicted by the same ailment. So yeah, he said some stupid things, but expecting a teenager to say the right things all the time...only happens in anime (And let's be honest, that's VERY questionable) I agree with Vanta that Vanta's approach would have been more appropriate for the situation and had the MC done Vanta's approach, Sayori might not have done what she did, but at the same time, it's easy to arm chair the MC on what he stated, but it's harder to actually be in the same situation. We all joke around and say "I can fix her" but the reality of the situation is that a person can't simply be "Fixed" by someone else's intervention, they have to have the will to "Fix" themselves but still have the support of those around them to fall back on when things are getting too tough. I think that is what the MC was trying to iterate, but being his age, it's tough to put that into words so instead he went the opposite direction and tried to support her with kindness. Sadly, MC doesn't understand that kindness to him is seen as pity to her which only worsened her depression and cornered her even further.

I am very fond of how attentive and emotionally intelligent Vanta is, it was extremely comforting oddly enough. I was equally as frustrated with him because of how tone deaf and self centered the MC was during the entire exchange… and for most of the entire game for that matter.
